I started photographing while in college at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.  Back then, I had my trusty ole Olympus OM1.  I spent a lot of time in the darkroom working on prints from Kodak tri-X 400 film.  Back then, I thought dodging and burning was where it was at.  Being red-green colorblind, I figured I would forever stick with B&W printing.

Soon after, I discovered the wonders of Kodachrome 64 slide film, and I permanently attached my camera to a tripod for close-ups and landscapes.  During my graduate school days at the University of Michigan, my time with photography dwindled.

My second foray into photography led to disappointments with the world of digital cameras where auto-focus, anti-shake and multilevel menus were all the rage.  Gone were  the easy to read hyperfocal focusing indicators on my lens barrel, careful adjustments of shutter, aperture, and ISO to get just the look I was going for.  I lost much my passion for the art of photography.

Things changed in January, 2017 when I bought a Leica D-Lux (typ 109), and manual adjustments became natural again.  That spring, I visited the Miami Leica Store and was formally introduced to the Leica M10.  It was love at first sight and feel.  Finally, a camera (digital no less!) that gave me the same pleasure as my old OM 1.  I thank Don & Dan at Chicago's Central Camera Company for getting me my M-10 within 2 weeks.  Great camera shop, great customer service!  Nothing like a well connected camera store to get you what you need!

I still have, and shoot with, a Leica D-Lux (my baby Leica), but the M-10 is my true love.  I shoot streets and landscapes with a Summicron 35 2.0/f ASPH and individuals and objects with a Summilux 50 1.4/f ASPH when I'm going for wide open and narrow focusing on my subject.
